Barça face Unicaja this evening in the Canary Islands(6.00pm CET) in the semi-final of the Spanish Cup. Unicaja are currently top of the Liga Endesa and this afternoon’s game promises to be a classic cup encounter.

Unicaja - strength in depth

Unicaja beat Bilbao Basket 86-78 in the quarter finals and they are currently enjoying a good run of form. Blessed with an excellent squad,Unicaja’s main threats are Jayson Granger- who scored 18 points against Bilbao – and the Lithuanian Kuzminskas -who chipped in with 15 – but with players such as Toolson, Markovic, Fran Vázquez, Golubovic, as well as game changers like Caleb Green and Will Thomas on the roster, they are a team with a wealth of options.

Although Barça were never behind in their quarter-final win over Valencia, there remained signs that the team are not quite at their very best just yet and they know they will have to up their game against the league leaders, who they beat after two extra periods earlier on this season in the league. It looks likely to be a tight game in which small details make the difference.

All 13 players Xavi Pascual took to the competition are available and the coach will announce his match day squad just before the game starts.
