First place in the group will have to wait. Barça went down to a defeat against  Fenerbahçe in a fantastic encounter that went into overtime and that also means the blaugranes will have to wait another week before securing top spot in the Euroleague group. Xavi Pascual's team had to deal with the absences of Navarro and Oleson as well as losing Abrines as early as the 3rd minute. Points from Thomas, 19 in the first half and 23 in total, as well as 25 from Marcelinho and three pointers from Hezonja - three in a row in the third quarter - kept Barça in the game until the very last play of overtime.

Abrines forced off

Barça began strongly in the first quarter with DeShaun Thomas in dominant mood. Nevertheless, Barça suffered a setback when in the 8th minute, Alex Abrines was forced off with a foot injury. That upset Barça's rhythm and the visitors had the lead 25-23 at the end of the first period.

Overtime the decider

The visitors continued to enhance their advantage in the second period and at one point they led 38-32. A dunk from Thomas allowed Barça to reduce their opponents lead just before half time. In the second half Pascual's outfit came roaring back and Fenebahçe coach Obradovic was forced into calling a time out with his side 53-49 down. Barça continued to preserve their lead at the end of the third quarter with a 61-59 scoreline. In the fourth quarter nerves took hold and neither side were able to get on top. The game went into overtime in which a late basket from Bjelica gave the Turkish side a 91 to 89 victory. Barça will have another chance to secure top spot next Friday away at Panathinaikos.
