Thomas during the game against Baloncesto Sevilla / VICTOR SALGADO-FCB

There was a warm welcome for Audie Norris who was back visiting the Palau before the game and also for the members of the 1985 Cup Winners Cup ahead of  a hard fought 99-83 win over a battling Baloncesto Sevilla side on Saturday night. The  game was a close affair until the final quarter when Barça eased into what was finally a comfortable lead -  the perfect preparation for teh European game against Real Madrid next week.

The visitors got off to a strong start, but after leading 17-19 at the end of the first quarter, fell behind to a Barça team featuring Nachbar and Doellman looking strong in attack, with the hosts taking a narrow 44-40 advantage at the break.

Three pointers break Seville’s resistance

The third quarter saw both teams going toe-to-toe, with neither able to pull clear, before four three pointers on the run from Thomas(1) and Navarro(3) opened up an eight point gap going into the final 10 minutes which, with Seville’s resistance finally broken they extended to 1 6 by the end of the game.
