FC Barcelona got a revitalizing league win at the Palau Blaugrana on Sunday, 88–82 over Fuenlabrada, which keeps them in third place behind Unicaja and Real Madrid. In less than 72 hours, Barça's home court has been the scene of two victories. The first was Thursday against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Euroleague. On Sunday, Barça's big third quarter helped them break open what had been an evenly contested game.

Tomic and Thomas

Justin Doellman had a huge first quarter, with 10 points and two three-pointers, helping guide the Catalans to a 22–18 lead. Fuenlabrada's Josh Mayo nailed a three to make it a one-point game as the second quarter got underway, but big man Ante Tomic took over in the paint on his way to grabbing 16 boards in the first-half. Deshaun Thomas paced the offense, dropping in 11 first-half points as Barça led 42–35 at the intermission.

Long-range threat

Juan Carlos Navarro drained back-to-back treys after the break, running the lead to 15. With Fuenlabrada fighting against the current like wild salmon swimming back upriver, Alaskan Brad Oleson was the Kodiak bear standing in their path, time and again staunching the visitors' efforts at making progress by draining clutch buckets from beyond the arc. Thanks in large part to Oleson, Barça led 65–52 at the start of the fourth quarter.

Nevertheless, Fuenlabrada found strength in numbers and managed to get back in the game, albeit much too late to change the final outcome. Barça's lead was cut to four late in the game, but they would bend no further.
