This Saturday afternoon, in the Euroleague Awards Ceremony, the five players named to the All-Euroleague First Team were announced. The award is a recognition to the the five best players of the season. One of the winners was Barça Regal’s Erazem Lorbek, this is the first time the player has been named to the All-Euroleague First Team in his career. The Slovenian, the highest evaluated Barça Regal player in the Euroleague, has been named two times to the All-Euroleague Second Team - in the 2008/09 season when he played for CSKA and in the 2009/10 season, with Barça - but, until now, he hadn’t broken into the first All-Euroleague First Team.

Lorbek, therefore, adds this acknowledgement to the award he received last week, when he was named to the ACB’s All-Star team. “It’s an honour to be among the best players in Europe. This is due to the team’s fantastic season. It’s a shame that we didn’t make it to the final,” said the Barça B player.

Navarro named to the All-Euroleague Second Team

Juan Carlos Navarro, who is the highest scorer in the history of the competition, was named to the All-Euroleague Second Team. The other players named to the team are: Teodosic (CSKA), McCalebb (Montepaschi Siena), Domercant (Unics Kazan) and Batiste (Panathinaikos). The Barça Regal captain has been named five times to the All-Euroleague First Team (2005/06, 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11).

Navarro talked about his personal performance this season: “my season hasn’t been as good as I would have liked because I had various injuries and I wasn’t able to help the team as much as I would have hoped. I’m happy, however, that we got to the Final Four once again. The result isn’t what we hoped for but we among the best teams in Europe and that’s very important for a Club like Barça.”

Kirilenko, MVP
