It’s a tough day for the Barça Regal players. The Azulgranas highlighted the difficulty of playing in the consolation third and fourth place match after being eliminated yesterday in the semi-final against Olympiacos. The players, however, want to finish their run in Istanbul’s Final Four on a high note. The technical secretary for the basketball team, Joan Creus, agrees with the players as he reiterated the team’s good form throughout the season.

Despite the team’s elimination from the Euroleague and the defeat in the King’s Cup final, the technical secretary said that the team must recovery quickly ahead of the Liga Endesa playoffs. “It’s a difficult day, but we have to turn the page and have a positive outlook on the future,” said Creus. He encouraged Xavi Pascual’s men to keep on working to achieve the team’s goals: “we’re in the final stretch and we have a very important part of the season coming up.”

The players, mentally prepared

The Barça Regal players want to leave Turkey with a repeat of their 2009 Berlin third-place finish. Pete Mickeal admitted that Olympiacos were the superior team in the semi-finals, but the players are eager to forget about the defeat as they prepare for tomorrow’s match. “It wasn’t our day. We have to remain strong,” said Kosta Perovic.

“It’s fairly difficult to play this match. We’re struggling because we wanted to play in the final. We were excited about it. Now, however, we have to pick ourselves up and play the best possible game against Panathinaikos,” said Fran Vázquez.
