Barça have some quality players in Eidson, Ndong, Lorbek and Huertas, who all made a difference when it really mattered today as they beat a Joventut Badalona. Barça Regal showed significant improvement from their preseason meeting against Joventut Badalona in the Catalan League.

Báez and Eyenga were particularly impressive but Barça still led for most of the game, despite slipping to 41-43 at the start of the third period. But the home side responded with a 15-0 streak to leave FIATC Joventut in serious trouble, and not even Jelinek's three pointers were enough to save them.

Eidson and Barça strong

Barça Regal jumped to a 9-0 start with 7 points from an inspired Chuck Eidson, the other from Ndong. Badalona were caught napping and took three minutes to open their account, and Salva Maldonado called an early timeout. Sow and Eyenga did managed to breathe some life into the green and blacks, who got back to within six after a 2+1 for the Senegalese player (13-7).

Another Senegalese, Boniface Ndong, was also showing his strong form and made it 15-7 and then 19-7 as the period ended 21-11, after a performance in which Barcelona probably deserved even more than a 10 point lead.

Báez revives Joventut

Báez was strong on the rebound and making a major contribution to the Joventut attack, with Eyenga leading the defence as the visitors got a 6-14 streak to make it 25-21, whereupon Pascual called a timeout and sent on Huertas and Navarro. Mickeal and Vázquez immediately responded with scores (29-25).

Joventut were well against the ropes at this point, and matters got worse for them when Navarro and Huertas claimed threes, the first baskets of the match for both. But former Valladolid man Báez was still causing all kinds of problems both in defence and offence, and his side was still in it at the break (41-37).

Marcelinho appears

Czech star Jelinek immediately started the third period by tying the game on 41 and then Trias put them ahead for the first time in the game (41-43). But FCB replied with a 15-0 streak, including a dramatic Ndong slam dunk (48-43) and an alley-hoop by Huertas for Eidson. The period ended 62-52.

Lorbek on an Huertas lesson

Barça Regal started the final period with a basket from young Bassas, then two triples from Lorbek (68-55) and another from Huertas, which as good as sealed the win.

In the final moments Marcelinho Huertas found time to supply to assists that had the Palau on its feet (he had 8 in total), although the MVP of the game was Ndong, with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
