Barça Regal will have to make one final effort this Tuesday in Kazan (18:00, Esport3) if the team wants to qualify for the Final Four in Istanbul, which will be played in May. This will be Barça’s fourth match this week and the third match of the quarter-final series of the Euroleague. If Xavi Pascual’s men don’t win this evening, they’ll have two more chances to see off Unics Kazan. The first, on Thursday at the Basket Hall Arena and the second back in Barcelona. “Despite the favorable result, we know that this tie will be difficult,” said the Barça manager.

They need the win...

The Barça team have accumulated a lot of games in the past week: two against Unics in Barcelona and a League game against Blancos Rueda Valladolid. Pascual warned of the looming danger of fatigue after the match against Valladolid this weekend: “we’ve noticed that the team is tired.” For this reason, Barça Regal will have to put in one last effort in order to save themselves the possibility of playing two more matches. “Each time it’s more difficult to win,” said Pascual.

Two pillars for Barça, Ndong and Pete Mickeal, are doubtful ahead of today’s match despite training with the team on Monday. “I believe that both of them have a chance of playing and helping the team,” said the manager. Mickeal was instrumental in the first match against the Tatars, as he was the highest scorer with 22 points. However, Pascual also has Navarro and Lorbek (MVP of week 26), who scored 32 between them in the second match against Unics.

...or they’ll be eliminated

Unics Kazan, unlike Barça, were able to rest this week. This will give the team the chance to show off their best basketball: “a tough game against a tough rival, that has been able to rest, awaits us,” said Pascual.

Furthermore, Unics have it all on the line this evening. They need the win or they will be eliminated from the competition. Unics Kazan is considered the surprise team of the competition, the players Domercant and Jawai, highest scorers for their team, make a strong case for that assumption.

Favorable precedent for Barça

This will be Barça Regal’s fifth game against Unics Kazan. Of the past four, Barça have won all of them. In the group stage, they played against each other twice, Pascuals men won by 65-93 and 63-50. In the quarter-finals, played this past week, Barça won 78-66 and 66-63.
