On Sunday, Berga followed its traditional Patum festival with the 40th anniversary of the local Barça supporters club and the XXII Trobada de Penyes del Bages, el Berguedà i la Cerdanya. Josep Ramón Vidal-Abarca, director of the Social Area and Pau Vilanova, director in chief of the Social Commission were there to represent the club.

At noon, the flag parade commenced through the old district of the capital of Berguedà, ending at the monument built to commemorate the VII World Supporters Club Meeting held in this town in 1983, which had been specially restored for the occasion.

Then the president of the Penya Blaugrana de Berga, Josep Aranda, welcomed all of his guests. Ramon Bajona, Governor for Public Security on the Berga Council, spoke words of congratulation, and finally Pau Vilanova publicly thanked Ramon Burniol, the local delegate to the Advisory Council, for the wonderful work that has been done in the region and wished him the best of luck as the president of the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes del Bages, Berguedà i Cerdanya.

The events then continued with ceremonial exchanges of gifts between the different clubs in attendance.

Long tradition of meetings

Just before the gala dinner, Josep Aranda spoke about the wonderful work the club had done since its foundation to encourage the Barça spirit in the territory. Ramón Burniol highlighted how Bages, Berguedà i la Cerdanya is the zone that has hosted the most world congresses, seven in total, and each the counties has hosted the event at least once.

To end, Josep Ramón Vidal-Abarca congratulated the Berga supporters club and all of the guests for helping to ensure that this is one of the regions of the country where the FCB spirit is at its strongest.
