The women’s team will be finding out who they are playing in the quarter finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Friday at 1.30pm at the draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

The games are scheduled to be played on March 22/23 and 29/30, and the Catalans could meet any of the seven other sides that go into the draw:

Olympique Lyon: Defending champions and also winners in 2011 and 2012. With great players like Dzenifer Marozsan and Caroline Seger in their ranks they romped home 17-0 on aggregate against Zurich in the previous round.

Paris Saint-Germain: The side that put Barça out of the competition last season, and with two particularly fine players in Irene Paredes and Vero Boquete. Beat Lillestrøm SK (Norway) and BIIK Kazygurt (Kazakhstan) in the previous rounds.

Wolfsburg: Champions in 2013 and 2014 and another the heavyweights, who’ve beaten Chelsea and Eskilstuna United (Sweden) to get this far.

Bayern Munich: The Germans are giants of the men’s game but this is the first quarter final appearance for the ladies. But they’re a strong side, and showed that with back-to-back 4-0 wins against Rossiyanka of Russia in the previous round.

Rosengaard: The Swedes are another regular feature of the latter stages of the competition. The big star at the Malmö club is five-times world player of the year Marta Vieira from Brazil.

Fortuna Hjorring: The Danish side that lifted the trophy in 2003 have not been in the quarter finals since. But they’re here now, and they’re the side that eliminated Spanish champions Athletic Club.

Manchester City: A rising force, the English champions are eyeing a semi-final berth in their first ever appearance in the competition. With a host of members of the England international team in the squad, that’s something they are more than capable of doing
