Brondby will be the Barça's rival in the round of 32 of the 2013/14 edition of the Champions League. The draw, which took place this Thursday in Nyon (Switzerland), also set the stage for the round of 16. If Barça defeat Brondby, they will go on to play the winner of the tie between FC Zurich and Sparta Prague.

The first match at home

Barça will play the first leg of the round of 32 tie at the Miniestadi on October 9 or 10. Club members, supporters club members and fans can attend the match for free. The return leg will be played in Denmark on the 16th or 17th of October. The exact time of kick off will be announced in the coming days.

Physically powerful opponent

Brondby have a lot of experience in the Champions League, and they are currently ranked the seventh best team in the continent by UEFA. They have won the last three editions of the Danish league and have also conquered the last three editions of the Cup. They have 10 international Danish players, all of whom reached the semifinals of this summer’s European championship.

Xavi Llorens told www.fcbarcelona.com that “I encourage the fans to come to the Mini to cheer the team on. It will be a good tie where everyone will be able to enjoy it. Brondby are a physical and technically well trained side, they will make things difficult for us.” Despite the Danish side’s obvious potential, Llorens is confident in his team: “We’ll have our chances to go through if we play our game and we pass the ball with speed.”
