FC Barcelona are in London and ready for Tuesday’s Champions League last sixteen game with Arsenal. Shortly after arriving in the UK capital, Ivan Rakitic gave his thoughts about a fixture that “won’t be easy against a top quality opponent … We’ll have to be at or very best to get through this game.”

But the Croatian also insists that “wearing this shirt always makes you want to go out and win. We’re on great form right now and we hope things stay that way. We know what we’ve got ahead of us, and how much their fans will get behind them, but we have faith in ourselves, and that means for the return leg too.”

No favourites

Rakitic also commented that “there is no need to talk about favourites. That neither adds or takes away from the pressure. We respect Arsenal 100%, because it’s one of the biggest clubs in football history.”

Naturally, the local English press was keen to ask the FCB midfielder about the three men that play in front of him: Neymar, Messi and Suárez. “It makes me proud to play with them. They are always ready and we know that we can trust them. With them in the team, we are different from the rest, and we’re delighted with that.

Rakitic ended by saying that “of course we want to retain the title that we won last year, but we also know how difficult it’s going to be. We have to take things step by step.”

And the next starts on Tuesday night at 8.45pm CET.
