The Clásico is in touching distance. The biggest game in the Liga calendar comes on the back of an international week, so Luis Enrique has only been able to work with a full squad on Thursday and Friday, although he is missing Mathieu, who was injured playing for France against Russia.

But before the Friday session, the Barça manager made it clear that he is not using any of that as an excuse. Other than the French defender, his players have come back in perfect shape and are raring to go on Saturday night at 8.30pm CET.

On a cold, wet evening at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the squad worked on their final preparations for the visit of old rivals Real Madrid. As on Thursday, the available first team players were joined by Mujica and Carbonell of the U19 team.

The squad will be announced at around 10.30am CET on Saturday morning, and at around 6.30pm CET, they are due to meet at the Camp Nou for a game being shown in 33 countries around the world and for which 700 media professionals have been accredited.

This is always one of the biggest games in the football world, and this year it will be doubling as a tribute to the late, great Johan Cruyff, for whom a spectacular memorial mosaic has been prepared. This is a game nobody will want to miss, and promises to provide a spectacular send-off for a man who shall forever be cherished in the hearts not just of Barça fans, but of football followers all over the world.
