On Thursday morning FIFA, football's world governing body, released a shortlist of 55 nominees for the 2015 FIFPro World XI.

FC Barcelona, in the midst of another record-breaking year during which they have already bagged an unprecedented second domestic treble and four overall titles — with the FIFA Club World Cup still on the table as a possible fifth — had ten players named among the nominees.

Here are the ten FC Barcelona players that made the shortlist, with their national teams in parentheses:

Defenders: Jordi Alba (Spain), Daniel Alves (Brazil), Javier Mascherano (Argentina), Gerard Piqué (Spain)

Midfielders: Sergio Busquets (Spain), Andrés Iniesta (Spain), Ivan Rakitic (Croatia)

Strikers: Lionel Messi (Argentina), Neymar Jr. (Brazil), Luis Suárez (Uruguay)

The final FIFA FIFPro World XI will be announced at the FIFA Ballon d’Or award ceremony at the Kongresshaus in Zurich, Switzerland on 11 January 2016.
