The UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will be special for everyone, but even more so for Barça's Turkish midfielder Arda Turan, who will go up against his former teammates in the two-game set beginning Tuesday night at 8.45pm CET. Ahead of the clash, we take a look at where Arda Turan came from as seen through the documentary 'The Dream of Bayrampasa,' produced by Barça TV, which delves into the player's origins as told by his closest family members and himself, all the way from his debut in the youth ranks of Turkish club Galatasaray through his celebrated arrival at FC Barcelona.

Key at Galatasaray and Atlético

Arda debuted with Galatasaray's first team in 2005 at just 18 years of age and, one season later, he cracked their starting starting line-up while, at the same time, also making his debut with the Turkey's senior national team. Arda made nine appearances and scored two goals for Galatasaray in the Champions League before being transferred to Atlético Madrid in 2011.

He quickly became a key player under Atlético manager Diego 'Cholo' Simeone, playing in 19 Champions League matches and scoring five goals. He started the 2014 final in Lisbon that pitted Atlético and Real Madrid.

Adapting at Barça

Turan was lured away from the Spanish capital and signed by FC Barcelona last summer, despite knowing he would be unable to play for six months, the final stretch of the infamous FIFA sanction. He debuted on 6 January and since then has become one of head coach Luis Enrique's go-to men off the Catalan bench. Of the 18 matches he’s played in, Barça have won 16. He has scored league goals against both Rayo Vallecano and Getafe.

Turan has made just one appearance in the Champions League this season, coming in Barça's 3–1 return leg win in their last-16 tie against Arsenal. Arda missed the first leg at Arsenal Stadium due to yellow card accumulation but now, with a clash versus his former team on the horizon, he is available to for Luis Enrique as Barça look to attain their next objective: a berth in the semi-finals.
