Xavi says the year is off to a great start under new coach Luis Enrique. "There are lots of reasons to think that things are going well. We are solid in defence, we're playing well, and we've got fierce competition," he said Tuesday afternoon in his hometown of Terrassa, Spain. There, he and former Barça player and coach Johan Cruyff have opened a field for groups at risk of social exclusion. The midfielder said that, for now, they are "on the right track." He said that things have gone well from the start, even as the team have undergone changes.

I am working hard, I feel good, and I'm having fun.

On his personal situation he repeated what he said at the start of the season: "I'm training at 100%. I said I would do whatever the team need. I am working hard, I feel good, and I'm having fun."

Xavi has started the last two La Liga matches against Granada (6-0) and Rayo Vallecano (0-2). He also spoke of the importance of being atop the table heading into the match at Real Madrid.

He was also asked about Luis Suarez. Xavi said Suarez was "training very well. The problem is he can't play, so the two international matches will be really good for him. He's a great player and he'll give us a lot on offense."
