British newspaper The Guardian traditionally picks the best 100 players of the year around about this time, and this year no fewer than ten of them are from FC Barcelona. Leo Messi was named second, Luis Suárez, sixth, and Neymar, seventh.

But in addition to the trio that made the Top Ten, a further seven Barça players made the cut. They were Mascherano (27), Iniesta (28), Rakitic (49), Xavi (50), Busquets (60), Alves (81) and Piqué (93). The ranking also includes four former members of the club in Ibrahimovic (13), Touré Yaya (18), Alexis (22) and Cesc (36).

Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid was placed top and Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer was third. And these three men are also the nominees for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award for 2014.
