[[DES_1]]Barça will start 2015 with a difficult road trip to Anoeta, home of Real Sociedad (9.00pm CET). After a 14 day break, this is the team’s first game since ending 2015 with a draw at Getafe and two big wins at the Camp Nou (8-1 against Huesca and 5-0 against Cordoba).

Alves back

Luis Enrique has named his 18 players (17 from the first team and Munir of Barça B). The big news is that Dani Alves has been declared fit after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained against Getafe three weeks ago, but there are no places for Masip, Bartra, Douglas, Sergi Roberto or Adriano, in addition to the injured Vermaelen.

Real Sociedad could recover striker Agirretxe, while there are still doubts concerning Mexican forward Carlos Vela. However, Zaldúa, Elustondo, Mikel González and Zurutuza are all out through injury.

FA Cup win for Man City

Barça’s Champions League opponents Manchester City survived a scare at home to Sheffield Wednesday to make it into the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon. Atdhe Nuhiu put the Owls 1-0 up after 14 minutes, but two second half goals from James Milner turned the game around for a 2-1 win.
