Luis Suárez is going into the Clásico in fine form. At the presentation of the 2013/14 Golden Shoe he said that “after playing two friendlies for Uruguay I’m feeling fine physically, much better than I expected in fact. I can now say for sure that I’m 100% at my best.” It’s special now because this is the club where I have always wanted to playOn a possible debut at the Santiago Bernabéu, the day after his suspension ends, the striker commented that “a footballer always has to be ready to play matches. But making my Barça debut at the Bernabéu will be very special because of the historic rivalry between the teams. I’ll be ready to do whatever the boss orders me to do, and it’s him who’ll decide whether I get to play.”

Suarez was also asked how it is that he seems to adapt so well to new clubs. “I’m the type of person who doesn’t believe in such a thing as adapting” he said. “I just go onto the field and do what I always do. Play football. Enjoy myself. It’s special now because this is the club where I have always wanted to play, and I’ll try to do here what I have done at all the other clubs.”Training with my team-mates and spending day-to-day life with them did me a lot of goodHe also commented on what it’s been like to be unable to play competitive matches for three weeks.  “That’s all in the past now” he said. “I had to be patient. Training with my team-mates and spending day-to-day life with them was good for me. Now I feel much better.”

On Friday 24 of this very month all the waiting will be over. His suspension will be over and he’ll be able to go out and play his first official game for Barça. And in Madrid, of all places! It’s not just Luis Suarez, but the whole football world that simply can’t wait for that day to come!
