The Spanish Cup is a competition in which we want to get as far as possible

The Barça coach gave his analysis of the team they will face in the El Alcoraz stadium on Wednesday evening: “They were top of their group in the Segunda B [Spain’s regionalised third tier of football] until last week, Tevenet is their coach and his team have shown in the league that they can take the initiative in games.” With regards to a possible squad for the club’s opening Cup fixture, Luis Enrique revealed that “it is a good chance to see players who have not played that much,” and he added that “if we went by training sessions then all the players would be in the starting 11.”

After five consecutive victories the team are in good form and the coach appeared very satisfied. “People in the street seem to have confidence in me and encourage me,” explained the Asturian. “In the five years that I have coached before coming here to Barça, I have shown my way of doing things and here I remain loyal to my principles,” continued the blaugrana coach.

Luis Enrique once again denounced violence inside football grounds and he called for its complete eradication. He also commented on some players personally during his appearance before the press. On defender Douglas he reminded everyone “for the Brazilian players the first year is difficult, but he has the qualities to play at full back and he is on the right track.” He praised another Brazilian, Neymar: “This season he looks better, after a first year of settling in. He is scoring and causing teams problems.”

Finally he had words about a possible reappearance for Andrés Iniesta after he missed out against Valencia: “From Andrés we expect the contribution of a more than special player.”
