Luis Enrique during the game against PSG/ MIGUEL RUIZ - FCB

Luis Enrique was clearly happy with the win over PSG when he spoke after the game insisting: “We made a great start to the game, with almost perfect pressing from the off. The players understood perfectly what the game demanded”, whilst commenting: “I hope the best is still to come”.

The win came in the boss’ fiftieth game in charge, during which he’s set a new record at the Club with 42 wins – something he laconically stressed “now needs to be followed by titles”.

 Good start

“We made a great start to the game and the players understood exactly what was wanted of them. Their attitude and the pressing they did is good news for us”.

“In the first half our pressing was perfect and that needed all the players to contribute”.

“We are good defending, whether that be pressing high up the pitch, closing down in the middle or defending in our area”.

“I’d like to think the best is still to come. That’s what the players have been working for since the start of the season, to be in the fight for titles. The league is difficult because there are other teams up there, there’ll be three other top teams in the Champions League semis and there’s another finalist in the Spanish Cup”.

“Our objective is to be amongst Europe’s best -that’s to be expected with the players I’ve got and the work they’re putting in. Now our objective is to be better than the team we play in the semi-finals”.

“The fact that Barça have been in 8 of the last 10 Champions League semi-finals shows we are one of Europe’s top Clubs and what’s more we have our own individual style of play”.

Bartomeu aiming for the final

FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu was pleased that “We did what we had to do. Our aim now has to be as it always is, reaching the final, but first we have to get through the semis and any team we play will be tough. Luis Enrique is doing a great job and we are having a magnificent season”.
