Manuel Neuer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi have appeared in the traditional press conference for the three candidates for the top prize at the FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday. “My ambitions for this year are the same as any other” said the Barça striker. “Which are to win everything we’re playing for. We know it’ll be difficult, but we’ll fight hard to win titles”.

He also had words about his international aspirations. “We have the Copa America in June and it’s some time since Argentina won it” he commented. “We weren’t able to win the World Cup and so I hope we get our revenge at the Copa America.” The tournament starts in Chile on June 11, and Argentina are looking to be South American champions for the first time since 1993.We know it’ll be difficult, but we’ll fight hard to win titlesAs for once again making the final three in the running for the FIFA Ballon d’Or trophy, Messi said “I’m very happy to be here. That’s eight years in a row and it’s not easy to stay up with the best for so long”.

He was also asked for a few words about his future. “I don’t know what will happen or where I’ll be next year” he said. “I have always said I’d like to end my career at Barça, but a lot can change in football. Neither can I say I’ll never play for Newell’s Old Boys”. After Sunday’s 3-1 win against Atlético Madrid, Messi appeared on Barça TV to deny recent claims in the press that he has made contact with other clubs.
