Josep Maria Bartomeu was at the Vatican today visiting the Pope, so it was anything but an ordinary day for him. But he still found time to talk to the press about various affairs at the club. And one of those is Neymar, who has been having an outstanding second season at FC Barcelona. “We signed the best young talent in the world last year” was the president’s confident verdict.

“His promise is now a reality” continued Bartomeu. “We can see that he’s helping the team, and also setting the example of being a mature young man who deals with adversities by simply getting back up again without a word of protest.”

As for the court hearing in relation to the transfer of the Brazilian, the president once again defended the club’s innocence. “I think we have been coherent regarding the Neymar issue” he insisted. “Sometimes we get things wrong and sometimes we get things right. But we have always done what we think is best for the club. If we make mistakes, we admit to them, and if we don’t, then it’s because we did the right thing … At the end of the day, it’s a case of showing that we did things honestly and coherently.”
