Piqué and Neymar in the press conference / MIGUEL RUIZ-FCB

Gerard Piqué and Neymar are clear about one thing: they want to come back from Berlin with the Club’s fifth Champions League trophy. “The moment is upon us. For us it is a unique opportunity to show the world of what we are capable of,” explained the Barça defender in the press conference ahead of the Champions League final on Saturday in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

The Barça number 3 has admitted that having done the double assures “a great season” but gaining the treble would be an achievement “that would make history, a perfect year.” In that sense, he added that “we are close to perfection and we will try.”

Neymar also admitted his excitement at the thought of lifting up the Champions League: “I hope to live the dream that would be winning a Champions League trophy to give it a quick kiss.” The Brazilian explained that he has dreamt about “scoring a goal in the final, but the most important thing is to end up as champions.”

Both see Barça with the ball

About the kind of game that they will see, Piqué is crystal clear: “I think we will have the ball and more control than Juventus. They will want the ball as well. Juventus had the courage to come out and play at the Santiago Bernabéu. We will put pressure on them up front as we always do.”

Neither of the two wanted to accept the role of favourites: “It’s a final and anything can happen. Juventus are not in the final by accident. We know it will be a great game.” The Barça number 11 ended the press conference with a confession: “I am a big fan of Buffon. I used to use him when I was younger on the Play Station. I will be delighted if I manage to score past him.”
