Andrés Iniesta played the full 90 minutes against Malaga / MIGUEL RUIZ- FC

"We always aim to get three points but although people take it as given that we’ll always win, today showed that that’s not the case” said tonight’s FC Barcelona captain Andrés Iniesta after the first setback in what has until now been the perfect start to the league season. And he felt that it was Malaga’s defensive tactics that were the main cause of their failure to score at La Rosaleda.

“Malaga should get a lot of the credit but we weren’t able to tip the balance” he continued. “But we should look on it as one point more and move on … Football is always about two teams, We tried to get the ball moving fast to gain superiority but they were very tight at the back. We tried to change our approach but we just couldn’t score.”

The thing now it to make sure things like this don’t happen against similarly ultra-defensive teams. “We tried to find solutions, but there was just no way” said Iniesta. “We’ll face this kind of situation again, and it’s up to us to find success against them. We’ll keep trying. It’s never easy to attack against an eleven-man defence, and we saw that today.”

“I have to keep working. But I’m happy to have had the chance. I hope to keep working hard to help this team”.

“I’ve been working since I got here. I haven’t stopped training for my debut. It was very rewarding to be able to help the team on the pitch.”

“I’ve been observing Daniel Alves and Montoya in previous matches. The boss told me to watch them carefully and to do things like them in order to adapt to the team’s way of playing.”

“It wasn’t the result we wanted. Not a bad result because we were away. But we couldn’t get all three points. We have to work hard to make sure we get the points from other matches.”

Claudio Bravo

“We had no luck in front of goal”.

“We tried every way of attacking to get a result, but Malaga did a wonderful job in defence and we couldn’t break though their barrier”.

“I didn’t have much to do. I would have liked to have won. To be honest, we’re a bit sad because this was a day for getting three points. Now we just have to plan for the next match”.

“They deserve credit for the draw. Because they were well placed at the back. We couldn’t create the chances we needed to win”.

“I don’t think about unbeaten records. I think more about working from day to day, competing and fighting for results. In the end, things come by themselves. I think about how important it is to win. The priority is for the team to win. That’s all I think about.”

“Draws always leave a bad taste in your mouth. You don’t want to settle for anything less than a win. Now we have to think about the next match.”

Marc Bartra

“We got a lot right, but there was nothing we could do to score.”

"Teams are getting to know us better all the time. They shut up shop at the back and know how to deal with us. I think we’ll be talking about this with the boss and things will get better.”
