Claudio Bravo makes his first return this Sunday to the club where he spent eight seasons, Real Sociedad. The goalkeeper signed by Barça in the summer could not hide his excitement about going back to Anoeta when he appeared before the press on Friday afternoon. “It will be a special game. Every game I have played in my new career here have been fantastic but this will be special because it is against my former club and I have unforgettable memories from there.”

Barça have not had a happy time on recent visits to the Basque city of San Sebastián to take on Real Sociedad. The Chilean played in those contests over the last few seasons and knows the reason why it is such a difficult ground for visiting sides: “It’s a tricky stadium where the fans really get behind their side. It will be a different game this season with different players but there is no doubt it will be tough.” One of the keys will be “not to given them any chances” and the international keeper was clear on the subject of the squad’s preparations for their first game of 2015: “The team is used to going into games and getting results on the back of just a few training sessions.”

Now with the Christmas and New Year break over, it is time to get back to work and winning matches to put pressure on league leaders Real Madrid. “Every game from now on is a chance to pull back points. If we do our job then sooner or later our rivals will lose,” commented the South American. “We are aware that we cannot afford another slip up because [Real Madrid] they would get away from us,” he added. “To be up there and put pressure on Madrid we have to win our matches.”

Commenting on his first few months at the club, Bravo highlighted the good relationship between himself and the other first team keepers Marc-André ter Stegen and Jordi Masip: “There is a very positive atmosphere and we all do our best to make life difficult for the coach.”

Finally, the goalkeeper highlighted the changes in his position on the pitch which is not just about making saves at Barça: “We have to get used to all different types of situations. We are required to play in a different way to the rest of the teams, like a sweeper. “
