Dunga’s second game in charge of Brazil was another 1-0 win, after Colombia were beaten by the same score on Saturday. This time the opposition was Ecuador in New Jersey, and Neymar once again played a central role.

Like against Colombia, the Barça striker wore the captain’s armband against a side that was happy to let Brazil take the initiative and which defended solidly from the outset. Neymar had already had chances on 22 and 28 minutes before Brazil finally scored after 31. An Óscar free kick landed on Neymar’s head, who knocked the ball on to Willian to strike home past goalkeeper Domínguez.

The goal brought Ecuador to life, and Vizuete and Neymar hit the post on either side of halftime, while Brazil keeper Jefferson did an excellent job to keep the Andeans at bay, particularly from a 61st minute Valencia header.

Brazil had further chances, with Neymar involved in almost all of them, but there was to be no further scoring.
