The league title race looks set to go down to the wire, with Barça, following their draw against Getafe at the Camp Nou on Saturday, still very much in the fight to retain their title. Atletico Madrid’s defeat away to Levante and Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Valencia at the Bernabeu on Sunday have opened up the title race again.

A two week thrilling climax

In order for Barça to depend only on themselves, they need Real Madrid to drop points in one of their final three games, away to Valladolid and Celta and at home to Espanyol on the last day of the season. Barça travel to Elche next week and then face Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou in the climax to a thrilling campaign. The spirit of the Dream Team and the two league titles they won on the last day of the season is back!

Atletico Madrid top the table on 88 points

Cholo Simeone’s side have 88 points, three more than Barça and five ahead of Real Madrid, who have played one game fewer. Atletico know that if they win their final two matches,– including the game against Barça – or even manage to take just 4 points, they will be champions, whilst Real Madrid will need to win all three games and home that Atletico lose one if they are to take the title.
