Griezmann key to Real Sociedad success

The young Frenchman has already scored 14 goals in just 19 games this season

Barça's Spanish Cup semi final opponents Real Sociedad have enjoyed a great 18 months or so, finishing fourth in the league and qualifying for the Champions League last season and now find themselves just two games from the Cup Final. Much of that success is down to their French striker Antoine Griezman, whose goals have attracted the interest of some of the continent's biggest clubs

Leading Real’s attack

Antoine Griezmann joined Real Sociedad in 2005 at the age of 13 and made his first team debut in the 2009/10 season. In his first full campaign with the first team - 2010/11 - he made 37 appearances and bagged seven goals, figures which he more or less repeated over the following couple of years. Still only 22, Griezman represented France at under 19, under 20 and under 21 level and was part of the side which won the European Under 19 Championship in 2010.

Griezmann is currently enjoying his best season at Real Sociedad and has scored 14 goals in his 19 appearances this year - the Spanish League’s third top scorer behind Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) and Diego Costa (Atlético Madrid). His clever ball skills and quick acceleration will undoubtedly be one of Real's main weapons, as they aim to beat Barça and reach their first Cup Final since 1988.
