It was a long awaited moment. This Friday at 4.30 pm, Tito Vilanova was back on the training ground pitch to lead the first team squad in a training session. Players and coaches alike were anxious for his return and gave him a warm reception. Speaking at a press conference before the session, Jordi Roura assured reporters: “The boss is back and that’s always important. It’ll be a boost for the squad.

Tito Vilanova will now make a staggered return to full duty and in line with this policy he will follow his doctors’ advice and not travel with the players to Vigo. However, all being well, he will be in the Parc des Princes in Paris on Tuesday.

A two-month wait

The Barça manager landed back in Barcelona last Tuesday early in the morning, accompanied by Jordi Roura and Aureli Altimira, after medical treatment lasting two months in New York. While he’s been away, the team has been managed by Roura, who has remained in constant contact with Vilanova to agree all decisions.
