The draw for the quarter finals of the Club World Cup was made this morning in Japan and FC Barcelona will play against the winners of the quarter final game between Al Sadd and Espérance (who play on December 11th ) in the semi final on December 15th in Yokohama.

The Qatar team Al Sadd are AFC Champions League winners after they beat the Korean team Jeonbuk in the final, whilst Espérance, from Tunisia, are the current African champions. The winner of the tie will face Barça in the competition's second semi final.

Monterrey and Santos in the other half of the draw

The first semi final will be between Santos and the Mexican team Monterrey, Kiwis Auckland City or the winners of the Japanese League. The Japanese and New Zealand teams meet in the qualifier to decide who meets Monterrey in the other quarter final to win the right to face Santos, who like Barça were guaranteed a spot in the semis, in the other semi finals.

Mexican semifinals

Barça played against Mexican teams in the semifinals in the 2006 and 2009 editions of the competition. The Azulgranas advanced to the final on both occasions, beating Amèrica and Atlante, respectively.
