Barça B lose at home / VÍCTOR SALGADO - FCB

Barça B lost 2-1 at home to Valencia Mestalla with Gerard López’s team unable to take advantage of Juan Cámara’s opening goal and an opposition reduced to 10 men after the dismissal of the visitors’ Iban Salvador. In the second half strikers from Araújo and Aridai gave Valencia a win over a Barça side who were reduced to nine men following dismissals for Tarín and Mujica.

A strong wind at kick off made flowing football difficult for both sides at the Miniestadi. Kaptoum and Mujica tried their luck from distance early on in the game with Cámara having his free kick blocked by the wall. The midfielder was to have better luck half way through the first period when his excellent finish with his right foot gave Barça the lead.

Kaptoum could have made it 2-0 following a mistake from Valencia keeper Álex Sánchez and then failed to take another chance to double Barça’s lead before the break. The red card for Valencia’s Iban Salvador further swung the game in the home side’s favour.

The second half could not have started worse for Barça with Rodrigo Tarín’s straight red card made it 10 versus 10. Gerard López brought on Ros to switch things around tactically as Valencia went close to an equaliser via Aridai.

With 20 minutes to go Valencia did level things up, Araújo taking advantage of a loose ball in the box to fire home from close range. Barça picked themselves up and the newly arrived Ros had a chance to give them back the lead, the substitute heading into the arms of the keeper Sánchez. The home side were made to pay when Aridai found himself alone in front of Barça keeper Suárez, the Valencia striker finding the net to give the visitors the lead. The blaugranes’ woes were compounded just before the end when Mujica was shown a second yellow card.
