Dani Romera scores the winner / VÍCTOR SALGADO - FCB

Barça B continued their strong run of form on Saturday with a narrow 1-0 win over leaders Villarreal B thanks to a goal from Dani Romera.

Facing the side top of the table, Barça knew they would be in for a tricky encounter at Miniestadi. The visitors started brightly, twice testing the gloves of keeper Adrián Ortolá.

Barça however, slowly began to impose themselves on the game as first Cámara then Perea went close midway through an equally matched first half.

While the first 45 minutes ended in a stalemate, Barça burst out of the traps to take an early lead with a strike from Dani Romera.

Samper then went close to doubling the home side’s advantage before Cámara struck the woodwork with a header.

Villarreal went desperately in search of a late leveler but the Barça defence stood firm to secure a massive victory.

Gerard Lopez’s side have now won seven of their last eight matches, reaching 41 points which leaves them within just two of the playoff places.
