Aitor fights for the ball / VICTOR SALGADO - FCB

Barça B earned their first home win of the season after a tough encounter with CD Alcoyano in which Gerard López’s side fought until the final whistle to keep the opposition at bay.

The Catalans began the brighter of the two and scored with their first good effort on goal. After just eleven minutes, Aitor opened the scoring following a pinpoint cross from Gumbau to get Barça off to the perfect start.

The second half started at a frantic pace with both teams creating good chances. The visitors, who hardly forced Ortolà into sort of work in the first period, had two golden chances in as many minutes. First, Rubén Ramos sent his effort into the stands despite being completely free at the far post and, in the very next attack, Alfaro was unable to make use of his opportunity on goal.

After Barça spurned a good chance through Dongou, the home side retreated as Alcoyano pursued an equaliser but both Alex Rubio and Rubén Ramos were both thwarted by two magic saves from Ortolà as Barça clinched a valuable win.

Up next for Gerard López’s men are Villarreal B who are top of the league with 19 points.

Return of Kaptoum

One of the highlights of the day was Kaptoum’s return to action following a series of injuries which had kept him on the sidelines since October 2014. The talented Cameroonian midfielder replaced compatriot Enguene towards the end of the game.
