Speaker Biography:

As Manager of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence, Chris is responsible for the Enterprise Data Management initiative for the Chicago Cubs business operations.  He has lead the strategy, design and implementation of the Data Warehouse including the rollout of descriptive analytics throughout the organization.  The focus of the initiative is building a 360-degree view of the Cubs’ customers spanning their transactions within the ballparks, their interactions online, and the engagement with the brand. Prior to joining the Chicago Cubs, Chris worked as the Lead ETL & Database Developer for CNO Incorporated. At CNO, he was part of a team that built and maintained an integrated new business system for captive and third party agents. Chris has developed integration solutions in Informatics for over 10 years, and he has developed ETL and database solutions for over 17 years. He is a graduate of Purdue University.

The Enterprise Data Management Journey for the Chicago Cubs.

Presentation synopsis:

When the Ricketts family purchased the Chicago Cubs in 2009, they established three major goals – Win the World Series, Be Good Neighbors, and Preserve Wrigley Field.  After 108 years, the Chicago Cubs achieved their primary goal of winning the World Series in 2016.  Although the other goals are still in progress, the organization is now transitioning their primary goal from winning a World Series to becoming a world class organization where winning is an expectation not an exception.  In order to be consistent contenders on the field, the business needs to continue to evolve and expand its revenue lines to fuel the baseball operations.  Capitalizing on our success not only gives us the ability to secure the best talent in baseball going forward, but it also provides assistance to our neighbors and to update Wrigley Field while preserving its history.  To ensure we gain insight into our customer’s needs, understand how they want to interact with us, and how best we can serve them, we are actively working on integrating all of the source systems into a 360 degree view of the customer.  This presentation is to discuss our approach and successes thus far.
