U19A v Santa Eulàlia: Perfect performance (8-2)

Garcia Pimienta's team put on a show at the Ciutat Esportiva in a match in which they dominated from start to finish and lead 4-0 by the break

The U19A side secured a great victory against Santa Eulàlia at the Ciutat Esportiva (8-2). García Pimienta’s team started with real intent and they went on to take complete control with a 4-0 lead by half time. Marqués and Kike were two of the stand out performers and they scored a brace each.

Blaugranas dominate possession

Garcia Pimienta’s team controlled possession from the off. Santa Eulàlia kept their shape and defended deep while barely touching the ball. In the opening ten minutes, Barça had two chances to take the lead but the opposition’s keeper managed to save them. Santa Eulàlia were unable to maintain the 0-0 score line for long as Collado broke the deadlock.

The goal gave the blaugranas some more confidence and they continued to dominate possession as they looked to double their lead. Chumi scored the second from a corner. Barça didn’t let up and they almost got the third through Collado’s free kick which hit the crossbar.

The third and fourth goals came from the edge of the box as Kike and Marqués got on the scoresheet and put Barça 4-0 up by the half-time whistle.

Offensive masterclass

The second half continued much like the first and within six minutes of the restart the U19A side scored via Sergio Gómez, who made it 5-0. The blaugranas didn’t settle for a five-goal lead as they continued to attack with intent. They controlled the ball and a passing move gave them their sixth of an impressive performance. Quique, from the left-hand side of the box, placed the ball into the top right-hand corner of the goal with a remarkably accurate shot before Marqués added a seventh.

Santa Eulàlia scored two goals late on to make the scoreboard look better for them with two unfortunate defensive lapses from the blaugranas. However, Riqui responded to make it 8-2 to Barça. The U19A side have secured their twelfth victory in their domestic competition and they will finish the year top of the Division of Honour.
