10 years since Ter Stegen was presented at FC Barcelona

On 22 May 2014, the goalkeeper from Mönchengladbach was officially unveiled as a blaugrana signing

Marc-André Ter Stegen officially joined FC Barcelona exactly ten years ago on 22 May 2014. Aged 22 at the time he had spent his entire career to then at his hometown club of Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he gained much acclaim as one of the finest rising goalkeepers in the European game.

And the rest is history. He has gone on to play 412 games. In fact, the only goalie with more appearances for the club is Víctor Valdés with 535 now that Ter Stegen recently surpassed another blaugrana legend, Andoni Zubizarreta. In fact, 'Zubi' was director of sport at the club when Ter Stegen was signed and he was there at the official presentation. 

The German has made 1,057 saves in his time at the club, with a 72.16% success rate. Of his 412 games, a massive 173 have ended with clean sheets, and he has collected 16 different major trophies, including one Champions League, five Ligas and five Copas del Rey.

In 2022/23, he won his first Zamora trophy for the best goalkeeping record in the league, the year his 26 clean sheets equalled the all-time record held by Francisco Liaño (1993/94). This season he could end up winning the Zamora again, but he's going to need to win a very close contest between three players on the final day of the competition.
