Ten from FC Barcelona advance to Euro 2022 quarter finals

England, Spain and Sweden all progress, but it's the end of the road for Norway and Switzerland

The group stage of UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 is over and has brought mixed fortunes for the Barça players competing.

Group A

As tournament hosts, there were huge expectations surrounding England in the build-up. And the lionesses have not disappointed. With Lucy Bronze featuring prominently, they scored 14 goals to no reply to sail through to the quarter finals.

Their biggest goal-spree was against Norway, and although Ingrid Engen and Caroline Graham Hansen both looked impressive, the Scandinavian side will play no further part in the competition after losing 1-0 to Austria in their final game

Aitana MVP

Group B

England now face another of the favourites, Spain, in what promises to be a cracking quarter final at the AMEX Stadium, Brighton on Wednesday at 9.00pm CEST.

Bronze will be up against a number of her new Barça team-mates. With Sandra Paños, Irene Paredes, Mapi León, Patri Guijarro, Aitana Bonmanti, Mariona Caldentey, Andrea Pereira and Claudia Pina in the side, Spain finished second behind Germany in Group B.

Qualification was assured with a 1-0 defeat of Denmark, with Aitana getting her second MVP award of the tournament.

Rolfö

Group C

Fridolina Rolfö and Sweden managed to top an extremely close-fought group ahead of the Netherlands, Switzerland and Portugal. The Barça star played a transcendental role in the 2-1 defeat of the Swiss, contributing a goal and an assist, and then a 5-0 rout of Portugal to close the group means Sweden will face Iceland, Belgium or Italy in Friday’s quarter final.

For Crnogorcevic and Switzerland, however, the tournament is over after a 4-1 defeat to the Netherlands.
