Barça 4 - 1 Betis: Another victory in the Palau

Another game, another Barça win in the Palau, this time 4-1 against Betis. A tough tussle to the end but the second triumph in four days after the home win against Burela. Ortiz also made his Barça debut and he looked good when he came on. A pre-match presentation also saw three Barça players receive  AJFS awards for last season in La Liga - Dídac Plana as best goalkeeper, Dyego as best right winger and Pito as best player.

Lift off with Lozano

The match started good for the home team, with Dyego having the first clear shot and Ortiz making his debut. However, it was Sergio Lozano who scored the first goal after a one-two with Povill in the 11th minute. Marcenio saved a late attempt to keep Barça ahead at the break.

A tighter second half before a final flourish

The second half was less one sided as both teams tried to take control. Betis pushed hard for the equaliser but Barça defended stoutly, as well as coming close through Ferrao and Pito. With just three minutes left, Lozano took advantage of Betis playing with an outfield player in goal and scored a long-range effort to make it 2-0, before Buendía got one back with just over a minute to go.

Amazingly there was still time for Adolfo to score two to send the Palau wild and make the final score 4-1. So, another Barça victory to maintain that winning habit, along with a valuable three points.
