Barça have beaten Baskonia in the cup semi-final (77-68) and can now ready themselves for a Sunday 6.30pm CET Clásico against Real Madrid in the final. A great game that looked done and dusted but a resurgent opponent could have sprung a late comeback.
Both sides defended better than they shot in the first period, and it ended with Barça 15-12 up, while better control of the rebounds and consecutive threes from Mirotic, Higgins and Hanga were to thank for the +11 lead at the break.
That lead was stretched before a 7-0 streak got Baskonia back in the game. But Kuric was on fire, and we were going into the final period with Barça comfortably ahead at 64-47.
Baskonia had not had their last say. Incredibly, although Barça went +20, a staggering 18-2 streak put them back within two with just two minutes on the clock. Barça needed to find something, and find it they did, and a late flurry eventually meant they’d win it by nine (77-68).
