Another comeback from FC Barcelona. The blaugranes beat Unicaja 103-93 in overtime in the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey with a performance full of character and belief as they turned around a 20 point difference. Higgins with 22 points was the top scorer for Barça and a key figure in the victory.
The atmosphere in Madrid was muted with the lack of fans in the WiZink Center but that did not put Unicaja as they started brilliantly. 19 unanswered points saw them race into a 29-15 lead, the advantage reaching 20 points at one stage.
Nevetheless, Jasikevicius' team never threw in the towel and at the break Barça had clawed themselves back into the game at 44-39.
In the second half Calathes led the blaugrana attack but Unicaja kept their lead at 65-60 at the end of the third quarter. It was not until the 33rd minute that Barça finally got their noses in front but their rivals fought back and at the buzzer it was all square at 88-88.
Barça, however, came into their own in overtime and they stretched their lead almost immediately to ultimately take a 10 point victory at 103-93 that sets up a semi final against Baskonia on Saturday.
