Cory Higgins has already walked onto the Palau Blaugrana court. The first new basketball signing of the 2019/20 season didn't do so to play, however, but to explain his first sensations as a Barça player. "I am very happy to join FC Barcelona, a club with a lot of history," said the American at his opening press conference. Higgins, a superb reinforcement, also indicated that he intends to "make the team better."
Asked about his goals, Higgins explained that he wants to improve day after day, but he also repeated on more than one occasion that "I want to win titles." He joins the club as one of the best players in Europe. "I'm not in the best moment of my career yet, because I know I can refine my game at FC Barcelona," he continued.
"I want to improve on the success I had at CSKA, but it will be a challenge for me," said a smiling and measured Higgins. His father and Michael Jordan's father are close friends and the latter has been a big influence. "I was attracted by the people of Barcelona. I have come here for the team, the club and the city," he concluded. Those words resonated in a Palau that awaits the debut of this extraordinary American.
"We are very pleased with the arrival of Higgins. It is the first day of presentations," said Joan Bladé, the director responsible for the section. For his part, Nacho Rodríguez, general manager, added that, despite the new signings, he wants to give continuity to the group from the last year and a half.
