New-look ‘One Team’ for 2016

The project to promote values through sport is to work with the UNES Unió Esportiva-AFA wheelchair basketball teams in Sant Feliu de Llobregat

The ‘One Team’ project to promote values through basketball organised by the Euroleague and the FC Barcelona Foundation is to enter a new era in early 2016 with many new features.

In previous years the beneficiaries were the athletes at the Special Olympics Catalunya, which has been working for several years with the FC Barcelona Foundation to achieve each and every one of the goals of the ‘One Team’ project. One of the changes this year is that the new beneficiaries are to be the youngsters that play wheelchair basketball at the AFA (Activitat Física Adaptada) school run by the UNES Unió Esportiva.

The FC Barcelona Foundation chose the UNES-AFA team in order to boost the initiative to empower physically disabled people, create an informal arena for them to develop their autonomy and to foster their self-esteem.

The sessions will start in early 2016 at the Palau Blaugrana and the Pavelló Juan Carlos Navarro in Sant Feliu de Llobregat. This year’s ambassador for the project will be FCB Lassa’s Justin Doellman.

UNES Unió Esportiva is a non-profit making organisation that promotes sport for the physically disabled and especially wheelchair basketball. The AFA schools form part of it and work to promote adapted sports. They also encourage the children’s families and friends to share their experiences and needs.
