The dreams of 24 youngsters of FCBEscola Singapore are set to come true as they will travel to Barcelona to participate in the fifth International FCBEscola Tournament which will take place on 21 and 24 March.
FCBEscola Singapore will arrive in Barcelona with two teams – Formative and Precompetition – in the tournament which will host 1,211 children from 19 different countries.
“The last few weeks have been frenetic for the youngsters. Both teams which will come to Barcelona have been taking part in extra training sessions and we have arranged a number of friendlies with international and local academies in Singapore to prepare for the tournament. All of this of course, by following the Barça philosophy,” says director of the local project of the FCBEscola in Singapore, Ángel Toledano.
The children have been extremely nervous since discovering who they will face. The Formative team will take on FCBEscola Río de Janeiro, FCBEscola Florida and FCBEscola Caribbean, while the Precompetition team will face FCB Technification Catalonia, FCBEscola Technification Tenerife and FCBEscola Istanbul.
“They are teams from countries with a great football tradition,” said Toledano who happy that the kids will spend a week where they will “feel like footballers”.
“It is an excellent opportunity for them to grow as players as they will be spending a week in contact with children from different cultures, who speak different languages and come from different social backgrounds. They will make new friends and will grow as people,” he added.
Visit to Barcelona
The children are massively excited about visiting Barcelona and, on Saturday, will visit the city; Las Ramblas, La Boqueria market, Plaza Catalunya, Montjuic castle and, to conclude, they will visit Miniestadi to watch Barça B take on Reus Deportiu.
On Sunday, they will visit Ciutat Esportiva and will go on the Camp Nou Tour Experience. On Wednesday, just like all players in the tournament, they will attend the Women’s Champions League match between Barça and PSG.
