FCBEscola inaugurates Ottawa School, the fourth in Canada

Canada become the country with the most FCBEscola soccer schools after the fourth opens in the capital city, and the sixth in North America

Futbol Club Barcelona is continuing its international expansion with the opening of an FCBEscola in Ottawa, Canada. This new school in the Canadian capital is the fourth to be set up in the country, which reasserts the club’s growth in North America, where it now has six such schools. FCBEscola Ottawa was opened on Tuesday 25 by the director of FCBEscola, Franc Carbó; Francisco Cervera, co-founder of BCN Sports Services Canada; Stephen Tung, co-founder of BCN Sports Services Canada and the director of the local project, Ángel Berastain.

This new school in the Canadian state of Ontario has come about as the result of an agreement with BCN Sport Services Canada, a company that has already opened three other schools in the cities of Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto in the great white north. This makes Canada the country with the branches of FCBEscola anywhere in the world.

FCBEscola Ottawa will work on the coaching of boys and girls aged 6 to 16 years, who will be divided into four categories by age group, from Beginners to Pre-Competition. The school will also give special advanced and goalkeeping courses. The coach’s role is especially important for development at these ages, which is why each group is composed of no more than 12 players.

Ottawa, twenty-third FCBEscola

FCBEscola is FC Barcelona’s soccer school model addressed at both boys and girls, and whose main goal is the comprehensive coaching of its pupils. The model has been exported on an international scale, and seeks to expand the Barça brand and transmit the club’s work philosophy and values to the rest of the world.

Each FCB Escola works with the same, unique model based on the Barça’s tried and tested methodology used with its own players from the academy through to the first team, including the creative, attacking style of play and the indispensable transmission of such values as respect, humility, effort, ambition and team-work. The technical management of the International FCBEscola schools is the responsibility of a technical director from FC Barcelona, who oversees the sporting programme as defined by FC Barcelona’s Sports Area.

Following the opening of the Ottawa school, FC Barcelona now has 23 branches of FCBEscola, as well as more than 150 soccer camps and 50 soccer clinics, meaning a presence in more than 50 countries in all five continents, and involving more than 30,000 boys and girls taking the different activities promoted by FCBEscola. Over the next few weeks, the club will be opening one more school in Lagos (Nigeria) and another in Guatemala.
