The first plenary session of the year, on 1 February, was an extraordinary meeting, held in the new Social Area. The meeting was chaired by Club vice-president Jordi Cardoner i Casaus, who was accompanied by the head of the Social Commission, Pau Vilanova, and the director of the International Social Commission, Josep M. Barnils, as well as Ramon Térmens, Supporters Club Ombudsman, and Antonio Gil, Chairman of the Supporters Club Council. In addition, all areas of the movement were represented.
The excitement of being at home
Vice President Cardoner showed his enthusiasm, in front of the Supporters Club Council, for the proposal which will go to referendum in early April. With this project, FC Barcelona will integrate and open itself to the Les Corts area, making it not only a project for the Club, but also for the City. He emphasised that the best news is that Barça is staying at home, where so many Barcelona fans have grown up, himself included, since 1957.
However, he tasked the presidents of each of the territorial federations with becoming catalysts of opinions, suggestions, and responses, in both directions. The Barça ambassadors in the region have the job of disseminating the information wherever they are: whether through exhibitions or presentations, or simply to inform the Club about the concerns that members and supporters club members may have.
Work of the Committee for Camp Nou, Tickets, and Travel
For its part, the Committee of the Supporters Club Council for Camp Nou, Tickets and Travel played a part, being the working group responsible for this material, as they had met previously, the night before, in order to agree on ideas and proposals.
This committee was set up to receive and channel these proposals and suggestions that the movement could provide. Thus, it set the goal of having as much information as possible so that the Supporters Club Council, the Federations, the supporters clubs, and FC Barcelona members in the region might make the most appropriate decision for the Club and for the supporters clubs. The committee’s involvement, to add detail to the project with proposals, ideas, or suggestions, was also one of the milestones that the working group established.
Schedule before the referendum
Thus, during the Supporters Club Council meeting, the schedule proposed by the Club and the Commission in question was approved. So, during the months of February and March regional meetings will be held at the Camp Nou, for the Federations of Catalonia Supporters Clubs.
For the rest of the federations, in the case of a regional meeting, a member of a Club Committee would attend the meeting to outline the project. Finally, on the weekend of the referendum, the Ordinary Plenary of the Supporters Club Council will be held.
As well as these activities during the month of March, the exposition of the Camp Nou precinct will be held, as well as the itinerant meetings aimed at members and supporters club members, that the Club will organise in different Catalan towns.
Supporters Club Council members, at the presentation
After the plenary session, regional representatives of the movement attended the presentation of the project, along with the rest of the Club councils, and the Board of the FC Barcelona Foundation.
