"It's important to regain the top spot," says Iniesta

Andrés Iniesta played a fantastic match at the Sánchez Pizjuán as he was one of the players, along with Xavi, to successfully complete the most passes throughout the 90 minutes of play. The midfielder recognised that it was crucial to defeat Sevilla. “It was important to go top again. The circumstances perhaps weren’t the best but in the end we won the match.”

With this victory Barça are back at the top of La Liga after losing it seven days ago. “When you have a chance you have to take advantage of it. I think this victory will give us strength ahead of the match on Wednesday and for the games to come after that.”

The player also talked about Leo Messi. “Messi always responds. He never misses and in just a few minutes he can change a game. He’s a fundamental player.”

Iniesta believes that it’s impossible to predict how the season will end. “We will fight until the end. The important thing is to not lose a lot of points and to improve as a team.”

“This was a very important match. When you have a chance to take the top spot you have to take advantage of it. It’s good to get it back so quickly.”
