International players round up

Luis Suárez: The Barça number 9 played the full 90 minutes in Uruguay’s friendly with Costa Rica and scored the opening goal. Suarez was given permission to skip Uruguay’s next friendly against Chile in order to get back into training at the Camp Nou.

Leo Messi: Messi scored from the spot and played the whole game in Argentina’s win over Croatia and again captained the side in the friendly against Portugal, hitting the woodwork in the first half before being withdrawn at the break

Mascherano: Played the full 90 minutes against Croatia and came close to scoring in the second half with a fierce drive from the edge of the box. Also completed the whole game against Portugal, taking the captain’s armband off Messi for the second half.

Neymar Jr: The Brazilian kept up his excellent scoring record for club and country with two goals in the 0-4 friendly win against  Turkey, though he failed to score in Brazil’s next game, the 2-1 win over Austria, and was subbed late on.

Rakitic: Played a big part in Croatia’s 1-1 draw with Italy and showed his class by constantly worrying the Italian defence throughout the 90 minutes.

Claudio Bravo: Captained Chile for the 5-0 win against Venezuela and over the 90 minutes made a series of important saves. Although he conceded two in the 1-2 defeat to Uruguay, he made a brilliant one-handed save late on to deny the Uruguayans a third

Piqué: Started against Belarus alongside Sergio Ramos at the heart of the defence and looked solid throughout. Also figured in the starting XI against Germany before being replaced at half time.

Bartra: Came on as a second half replacement for Piqué against Germany after missing out in the Belarus match.

Pedro: Started against Belarus and rounded off a good move to score Spain’s third, before hitting the woodwork with another effort with an eye catching performance. Came on late against Germany.

Jordi Alba: Played a solid defensive 90 minutes against Belarus before being rested for the Germany game.

Sergio Busquets: Hit Spain’s second against Belarus with a long range shot which deflected in off a defender and put in a typically dominant performance. Played the first 45 minutes against Germany, when Spain dominated midfield.

Ter Stegen: Played the full 90 minutes in the German under 21s 3-1 win over Holland and then sat out the 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic.

Barça B:

Samper: Played the first 45 minutes for the Spanish Under 21s against Belgium.

Munir: scored the only goal against Belgium as Spain crashed to a 1-4 defeat.

Sandro: Showed some quality touches in the first 45 minutes when he was on the pitch against Belgium.

Halilovic: Played the second half of Croatia’s 2-1 defeat against Argentina.
