Luis Enrique and Rafinha were there to open the New San Mamés

The coach and midfielder return to the stadium they helped innaugurate last season when Celta were in Bilbao Rafinha played all 90 minutes and assisted Charles on the first goal in the history if the New San Mamés

Luis Enrique and Rafinha return to the New San Mames – a stadium full of memories for both – this Sunday for Barça's league fixture versus Athletic Club Bilbao at 9.00pm (CET). Last season, the coach and the midfielder were representing Celta Vigo at the inauguration of the new stadium. It was on 16 September 2013 that the first game there was played, and both the coach and the midfielder were keys in the game, in spite of Celta's 3–2 loss.

Rafinha played the whole game and set up the first goal in the history of the New San Mamés, stealing the ball in midfield and assisting Charles on 16 minutes to break the ice in the new stadium. Luis Enrique planned an offensive approach for the match and his Celta side threatened to rain on Athletic Club's party.

No Barça player has won at the new stadium

In addition to Luis Enrique and Rafinha, no other current Barça player has ever been victorious in Bilbao's new stadium. Last season Barça fell 1-0 in week 35 of La Liga. Other players who signed with Barça this season but played elsewhere in La Liga last year – Rakitic, Bravo and Mathieu – couldn't manage a win there either, proof that the New San Mamés is no cakewalk.
