Rival Watch: As you were at the top of the table in La Liga

Real Madrid come from behind to beat Rayo Vallecano and Atlético have to work hard to overcome Málaga

Both Real Madrid and Atlético briefly topped the table on Saturday before Barça reclaimed top spot with a handsome victory over Sporting Gijón at Camp Nou. Zinedine Zidane’s side were the first in action on Saturday, facing local rivals Rayo Vallecano. Real were soon in trouble when goals from Embarba and Miku saw the home side take a 2-0 lead in the first half in Vallecas. However, Gareth Bale pulled one back before half time before grabbing the winner late on the second. Previously, Lucas Vázquez had levelled the scores at 2-2 with an excellent header.

Atlético were made to work hard for all three points in their home game against Málaga. Los colochoneros needed a goal in the second half from substitute Ángel Correa to earn them all three points with a 1-0 win against Javi Gracia’s team.

Real Madrid remain a point behind on 81 points with Atlético and Barça level on 82 points, the blaugranes having the advantage over Diego Simeoni’s team with a better head to head record.
